How do African-Americans view themselves?
Look at the following video entitled "A Girl Like Me". Click here to view it. Remember, the filmmaker is expressing her social commentary on how African American girls view themselves.
Respond to the following:
1. Who was Dr. Kenneth B. Clark? What was his famous experiment? http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4627755
2. What connection did Dr. Clark have with the famous Supreme Court case of "Brown vs the Board of Education" in 1954? Is he an important African American that people should know about?
3. Compare the film maker's "Doll Experiment" with that of Dr. Clark's in 1954. What was your feeling about what you saw and heard in the video? Do you think other African-American students should know about this clip? If yes, why? What social commentary is the film maker making with her video? What was your reaction to this video and information overall?
4. Follow the links at this site and investigate one other aspect of African American history connected with Dr. Clark and tell me what else you learned.

1. Dr Kenneth Clark conducted the first doll test. this test was done on young black children to see how they viewed themselves.
2.Kenneth Clark was adamatly against the segregation of schools, he saw the harmful effects racism had on people.he is definitely some the black coomunity should know about.

The video that the young lady made replicating Dr. Kenneth Clarks test was shocking because over fifty years later she got the same results as Dr. Clark.Other black students should definitely see this to get a better understanding of their people.the young lady that made this video is basically showing the black community that we are not viewing ourselves as beautiful and are becoming brainwashed to believe that white is the way to be.
Dr Kenneth Clark was a man who did a famous experiment on kids about age five to see the reaction of them. He did the harmful effects of racism on black children .Yes I think that African American people should know about Dr Kenneth because he has a lot of good points about our people. Yes I think that our African American students should see this clip so it can show that it start at a young age that our black community is thinking of there self as not good enough, when they see this clip they will see that they need to step up.
